| Aloe Vera 'the miracle plant' dates back to thousands of years, it is one of the oldest plants recorded in medicinal annals. The earliest users of Aloe Vera were Arabs, Sumerians and Egyptians. About 2200 BC Sumerians had written about this “healing plant on their stone tablets about its medicinal value. Egyptians have written about it in 1550 BC with formulas how to mix it and use it externally and internally for human disorders. Egyptian history has records that their queens Neferititi and Cleopatra used to bathe in Aloe juice to keep their skin soft and young. It is universally known as the ‘plant of immortality' because of its remarkable rejuvenative qualities.
King Alexander the great carried Aloe plants during battles to treat wounded soldiers. The Spanish used Aloe and spread it to South America and Caribbean. It was the Arab traders who introduced Aloe Vera to Eastern countries like India, China & Indonesia in the 6th B.C. In India Aloe Vera has been referred to as "kumari" (meaing Young Girl) in Ayurvedic texts. It spread to China in 10th B.C. during the Sung Dynasty period where it was used as purgative and has beauty toner. It is in the new world of America that has revived the use of Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller as medicament because of the use by the Mayans and the Seminole Indians who popularized Aloe Vera as ‘Fountain of Youth'.

History: Botanical Information:
The genus Aloe taxonomically placed in Liliaceous family with scientific name “Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller” is related to other members of the Lily family such as the onion, garlic and turnip families. Aloe's relationship to the lily family is evident from the tubular yellow flowers. There are over 250 species around the world. However, only two species are grown today commercially Aloe Barbadensis Miller and Aloe Arborescence. The Aloe plant is grown in warm tropical areas and cannot survive cold climates. The leaves of the Aloe Vera plant grow from the base in the rosette pattern. Mature plants can grow as tall one metre with the average length of leaves around 90 to 100 cm in length and it takes two to three years for the plant to mature.
